About me

MY JOURNEY

My journey into somatic psychotherapy began with a Bachelor of Communications (Arts), with a strong emphasis on psychology, igniting my fascination with the human mind and why we make the decisions that we do. After completing my degree and working overseas in marketing, I felt a calling to explore my passion for health and wellness, leading me to train as a massage therapist. Over a decade, I built a career as a bodyworker, discovering how profoundly the body holds and reflects our past experiences and traumas.

My Path to Somatic Work

My expertise was deepened with an advanced KaHuna bodywork qualification which refined my skills creating a space for emotional releases through the body and touch alone, deepening my understanding of the mind-emotion-body link. Realising that my natural inclination to support clients extended beyond the massage table, I transitioned into women’s health coaching. I loved working with women in this way and being able to hold space and facilitate new insights for my clients.

After several years in the field, I found that traditional talk therapy methods often fell short for clients grappling with deep-seated beliefs and traumatic backgrounds. As many of my clients began to explore intense emotional states, I felt a growing need to provide deeper, more specialised support.

Recognising the importance of body-centered therapeutic approaches, I pursued short-term training in Somatic Experiencing, where I discovered a profound passion for somatic-based therapeutic work.

I am now, currently in the supervisory phase of an intensive three-year Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy Professional Training. To deepen my knowledge, I have also completed Advanced Somatic Trauma Training through the Integrative Psychology Academy. This year, I am excited to also be beginning a Master’s degree in Process-Oriented Psychotherapy.

These specialised trainings equip me with the expertise and sensitivity to engage with my clients’ most vulnerable parts, offering them the depth of care and understanding they truly deserve.

The wisdom of my experience

However, more than any of my training and qualifications, I have undeniably learned the most about this work from my own life experiences. Having faced severe developmental trauma, emotional neglect and abuse, a long-term eating disorder, drug and alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, toxic relationships and suicidal ideation, my life has been a journey of trying to find healing for my own trauma and discovering, from the infinite modalities and pathways, what truly makes a difference. Due to my deep desire to heal and stop playing out the same unhealthy  patterns, I have spent the last twelve years in a relentless quest to understand what creates physical, emotional and spiritual healing.

Healing Through Connection

One of the key insights I gained was recognising that, despite my extensive training and experience as a therapist, I had been relying on myself to navigate everything. This mindset was rooted in a trauma response from lacking the support I needed during my upbringing. Connecting these dots made it clear that, since my trauma was relational, my healing needed to occur within a relational context as well. Embracing therapy and supportive relationships became crucial in reconciling my pain. This shift marked the beginning of a transformative breakthrough in my life.

Today, the profound shift in my well-being and mental health fuels my passion for offering this kind of healing support to others. There was a time when I couldn’t have imagined such a transformation was possible for me—but it was. And I believe it’s possible for all of us, no matter what we’ve been through or are still going through. My intention is to support those who are facing similar challenges and help them discover their own path to healing.

It’s often said that we can only hold others to the extent that we’ve held ourselves. I’ve had both the gift and the challenge of having to hold myself through some of the darkest experiences life can offer. But looking back now, I wouldn’t change any of them. These experiences have given me the depth and capacity to hold my clients in their own darkest moments, welcoming the spaces within them that are yearning for nothing more than unconditional love and presence.

My Approach

I’ve chosen an approach grounded in somatic work, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care because it aligns with my belief in addressing the complexities of healing holistically.

Somatic Work

The body holds and reflects our emotional experiences and traumas in often unconscious ways. Through somatic work, we tap into this deep-seated body wisdom.

By focusing on bodily sensations, movements, and physical experiences,

we can uncover and address the root causes of emotional pain and patterns held by the nervous system.

Trauma-Informed

This is integral to my practice as it acknowledges the pervasive impact of trauma and ensures that our work together is safe, empowering, and responsive to your needs.

This approach emphasises safety, trustworthiness, and collaboration,

so you feel fully supported and understood.

Adaptivity

Not everyone may be ready to explore their physical experiences right away. I respect this and approach each person with safety and gentleness, starting where they are comfortable.

Many people cope with pain by staying disconnected from their bodies and focusing solely on the mind.

We can take gradual steps towards embodiment, and I’m always open to incorporating talk therapy techniques when it’s valuable and necessary.

Mindfulness

It's the practice of being fully present & aware in the moment, observing thoughts, feelings and sensations without judgment, creating a safe space to explore and process difficult experiences.

This heightened awareness helps build resilience and a deeper connection with yourself, which is crucial for meaningful healing.

In my opinion, cultivating mindfulness is the most important thing we could ever do for our mental and emotional health.

Are you ready to take the next step?

If you feel drawn to explore this path, let’s connect and see if we’re a good fit. Your choice to invest in yourself is a meaningful step toward transformation, and I’m here to support you.
